Committee Opportunities

Board of Directors

Serving on the HSWC Board is a rewarding experience and a wonderful opportunity to give back to the community. Board Members are required to attend regular monthly board meetings, volunteer at least 60 hours annually on HSWC related activities, and donate regularly to the organization.

HSWC's Board is a governance board utilizing the Carver Policy Governance Model. The model enables empowerment to staff while preserving controls necessary for accountability. It provides a foundation for discipline, a framework for precision delegation, and a long-term focus on what the organization is for more than what it does.

HSWC is seeking Board Members with all kinds of backgrounds. Prior experience in the animal shelter or veterinary field is not required. Board Members must complete in initial application and submit a resume for consideration. Please download an application here or request additional information by emailing Jason McBride, Board of Directors Nominating Committee chair at jmcbride@hswc.net.

Upon receipt of a completed application, a current HSWC Board Member will reach out to you to discuss next steps and facilitate a meeting with the rest of the team.
